Many
families at First Baptist Church are dealing with Alzheimer’s
disease or other types of dementia. As some of us began
to assess ways our church could minister to these families,
we learned that this situation is spread throughout Johnston
County. Support for affected families is scarce and respite,
a necessary break for caregivers, is almost nonexistent.
Education about the disease, proper diagnosis, treatment,
and finding ways Christians can minister
is crucial as this devastating disease becomes more prevalent
in our aging society.
For those who want to become involved
or those who want to know more about Alzheimer's Disease there will be a Support Group meeting at First
Baptist Church in the Old Parlor on the 3rd Thursday of each month. This meeting will be from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. and respite will be provided. You are welcome to attend.
