Women's Missionary Union

The Women's Missionary Union had its beginning at First Baptist when our Church was first organized. Women gathered in homes or the church to discuss the Bible, pray and decide on mission projects that needed to be done in the church and community.

Today, the WMU is active in many ministries following the example of Jesus. Members of the WMU are challenged to relate to God as Jesus did, have compassion as Jesus did, and serve as Jesus did. They are truly dedicated Christ Followers.

WMU is involved in a variety of mission projects and members are involved regularly in ongoing ministry to people outside the walls of our church. These ministries include:

  • Visiting patients in nursing homes
  • Working with nursing home projects
  • Delivering Meals on Wheels
  • Prison ministry
  • Books for prison library at Troy
  • Hand in Hand Project at South Campus School
  • Making health kits for migrants
  • Working in the Clothes Closet, Soup Kitchen, and Household Closet
  • Disaster relief work in the community, state and nation
