Experiencing God (12 Weeks)
Study, share and reflect upon knowing and doing God’s will in your life.

The Worn Out Woman (12 Weeks)
There are more than 60 million worn-out women in the US today. This study will look at what causes an emptiness of spirit when our life is so very full. Then, examine ideas for “un-cluttering” so that we can get back to God’s plan for our life and the blessings He has for us.

Preparing for Adolescence (6 Weeks)
The middle years, eight to twelve years of age, are perhaps the most significant attitude-forming period in the life of a child. Rightly meeting the small challenges of the middle years significantly reduces the likelihood of big challenges in the teen years. Topics include a variety of methods to help children through the teen years.

The Other Side of the Garden (12 Weeks)
Seek to understand the principles of biblical womanhood from God’s perspective. The class will explore God’s design for women as wife, mother, and nurturer in the home and also the purpose of God for women in every area of life including their uniqueness, importance and responsibilities.

MUSIC MINISTRY REHEARSALS ARE RESUMING
There is a place for everyone to serve using their musical gifts. See below for rehearsal resumption. Talk to Kelley or the group leader if you have questions.

  • Sanctuary Choir—Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. This fall, learning a new commissioned anthem for the anniversary celebration and much NEW Christmas music for the program on Sunday December 16.
  • SOS Early Worship ensemble—Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Adult ensemble leading early service once a month
  • Children’s Choirs for ages 4 through grade 6—Wednesdays at 6 p.m. before Discipleship Training. Older Children will be learning a new Christmas musical drama
  • Youth music—Sunday afternoons starting Sept. 9 at 5:00 (see under Youth News inside)
  • Older Children’s Handbells—for grades 4-6, beginning September 9 at 5:30
  • Praise Ringers Handbells (adult advanced)—rehearsing Sundays at 6:45 starting Sept. 9
  • First Baptist Belles (adult ladies)—rehearsing Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. starting Sept. 2. This group has TWO OPENINGS this fall. Call Kelley if interested.
Starting September 1, 2007, Kelley Garris will be considered full time status at First Baptist. Since 1983, she has worked “eighty percent time,” but now will spend more time developing ministry with retired adults in addition to her music duties. She will remain at the office, Monday – Thursday, until the end of the office day, as well as returning as usual for night rehearsals. The Personnel Committee and the Deacons have considered and approved this change.
