Again this year we will prepare Thanksgiving Dinner with all the trimmings and need your help. We need volunteers for kitchen helpers, servers, greeters, clean-up crews, meals on wheels volunteers, and much, much more. We will serve from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. If you can help in any way, please contact Anesha Johnson at 934-1601.

OFFICE CLOSED
The church office will be CLOSED Thursday, November 27th and Friday, November 28th in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.


YOUTH NEWS
FBC Youth Group will NOT meet Sunday evening, November 21st due to the conclusion of DiscipleNow.

DNow Weekend
DiscipleNow weekend is THIS WEEKEND. Check in is at 5:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Please bring: Bible, sleeping bag and pillow, towels & bath cloths, personal toiletries, clothes for the weekend (Saturday afternoon will be outdoors, weather permitting, prepare for November weather), Jeans or Khaki pants for worship on Sunday morning (we’ll wear our theme t-shirts), cereal, pop tarts or breakfast food for breakfast, and soft drinks or bottled water and snacks to share with the group. You will not need any money (but you may want to purchase a “Flowers for Faye” CD Saturday night after their concert.) All DiscipleNow participants will attend the 8:40 a.m. worship service on Sunday, November 23rd. Pete Rochelle, Aaron Hinton and PB&J will be leading the service.

For Girls Only
Sign up NOW for the “All Access” Revolve Tour, January 23 – 24th. The cost is $80.00. Cost includes transportation, lodging, and admission (you pay for 3 meals.) You will enjoy concerts by amazing bands, “behind the scenes” look at relationships, drama, real-life stories and more. Special guests include Hawk Nelson, Natalie Grant, Chad Eastham, Krystal Meyers, Jenna Lucado, Group 1 Crew and Danielle Kimmy. Call Tommy if you want to go.

Join us for the “Guys” retreat, Mano E Mano, January 30-31 at Chestnut Ridge. The cost is $55 with a deposit of $25.00 due NOW. The cost includes 2 meals, housing, and High Challenge course (you pay for fast food meal on the way). ALSO, there is a form that MUST be completed by a parent before you can go. See Tommy if you need one. We will challenge each other to be the best men of God we can be as we play, laugh, encourage each other on the high challenge course and take some time to flex our muscles for God!

Thank you to all the people who worked endless hours to put together the Sixth Annual Becky Knott Golf Tournament. Words alone cannot express our appreciation. A special thank you to all the individuals and businesses who sponsored teams and came out and played, and to all those who graciously made other donations to the golf tournament. MISSION TRIP TO GUATEMALA
There will be a Mission Trip to Guatemala City during Spring Break, April 11 – 18, 2009 (date may change by a day or two) for a small group (approximately 15) The cost is $1,250 per person, which includes airfare. This trip is open to everyone. We will be helping with Vacation Bible School. THIS IS THE LAST WEEK to sign up. Call Tommy if you are interested in going.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUTREACH
AT CHRISTMAS
Angel Tree: Again this year we will be helping with the Angel Tree project. You can pick up an “angel” beginning November 30th and return your gift to the church office by or before December 7th. We will also host the Angel Tree Party in the Fellowship Hall on Saturday, December 13 from 10:00 a.m. until noon.

WAYS YOU CAN HELP
Mission of Joy: Years ago my father received a Christmas tree made from a pine cone. He was so happy with his little tree. Join us for another Pine Cone Christmas tree decorating party Saturday, November 22, 9:00 – 11:00 upstairs in Room 252. Bring your glue gun and glue sticks.

Peanut Butter for Backpacks: We are collecting 18 oz. jars of peanut butter for the Backpack Program. If you can help, please drop your donations at the church office.

The Household Closet Needs Your HELP: The Household Closet needs the following items: plates, silverware, pots & pans, towels, and blankets. We are completely OUT! If you have any of these items you can donate, please bring to the church or contact Dianne Shirley.

COULD YOU HELP
My name is Sarah Campbell and I am working on my Senior Project. I will be collecting food for the Backpack Ministry here at First Baptist. The following are items needed to fill the backpacks: cans of spaghetti, ravioli, beanie weanies, vienna sausage, non refrigerated fruit cups or pudding, juice boxes, breakfast bars or pop tarts. My goal is to collect enough food to fill the backpacks one week. If you can donate any of these items please bring them to the church office where I will have a collection box in the storage room.

My name is Lauren Daughtry and I am working on my Girl Scout Gold Award. I am collecting fabric for by Girl Scout Gold Award project. This material will be sent to the Baptist Seminary in Guatemala to help support the women’s ministry there. A collection box will be in the office storage room. Also, any individual or business that would be interested in sponsoring the shipment of these boxes please give me a call at 320-4941. (FYI the cost to ship a 20 pound flat rate box is $50.)

The Coastal Women’s Retreat will be held February 20 – 22, 2009 at Caswell. All women are invited to attend. The theme is “A Heart Full of Praise” with guest speaker, Phyllis Elliott Elvington. Phyllis will make you laugh, cry, and inspire you to live each day with a heart full of praise! The cost for the weekend is $122.00. If you would like join us for this time of personal renewal and fellowship, please sign up and pay a deposit of $61.00 by Monday, December 29th.
