WMU: Doing Missions Through Christ
|
 |
February 12-18, 2007 is focus on WMU in our churches. WMU is active at First Baptist with mission work in a variety of areas. Members in WMU support the GA’s, RA’s, Youth, Mission Friends, make homebound visits, work with the schools in the community, have a prison ministry at the NC Corrections Institution
for Women, work in the Clothes Closet and Soup Kitchen, provide health kits to the needy, gather books for a prison library in Troy, NC, support In Hands Pregnancy Support Center, assist with monthly delivery of Meals on Wheels, visit and support Kennedy Home, visit patients in nursing homes, provide religious programs at nursing homes, collect and hand out school supplies, help with college care packages, work with Relay for Life, assist with the JCC Campus Ministry, Angel Tree Prison Ministry, World Changers, BSU and work with all the major offerings in the church. We are proud to have met our offering goals. |
Our emphasis is to “Live the Call.” WMU’s call at First Baptist is to help individuals to understand, embrace and live the mission of God. Colossians 1:10 tells us to “Walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.” The women at First Baptist participate in the work of the church and denomination. May God bless all the women, past and present, who are serving in WMU to make a difference in the lives of those they encounter in their daily “call” to serve Christ.
If you are not involved in WMU and would like to be, contact Lisa Gainey or Jo Ann Wiggs.
