It’s time to get registered! First Baptist Families registration is March 16th-19th. . If you are interested in any of these programs for your children, please register before public registration day on the 20th. Registration forms may be picked up in the office or can be downloaded from the church website at www.fbcsmithfield.org (click on Education). YOUTH NEWS
FBC Youth will meet Sunday, March 18 at 6:15 p.m. for Snack Supper followed by Bible Study at 7:00 p.m.. Hillary & Spencer Braswell, Sarah & William Ashley, Andrew & Grace Ann Carroll, Chelsea Creech, Brian & Emily Dimsdale, Tori Southerland and Kameron Wood are responsible for Snack Supper.

MISSION TRIP PREP
Mission Trip Prep. continues Wednesday, March 21 and 28 in Ryberg Hall for all Youth who are going on the 2007 Mission Trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee.

CASWELL DEPOSIT DUE
Caswell is June 18-23. Cost: $225. Sign-up and pay deposit of $125 NOW at Youth Group or in the Church office. Sign up and pay deposit no later than Sunday, March 25.

BEACH RETREAT INFO.
Middle School Beach Retreat is March 23-25. Cost: $45.00. Sign up NOW and pay at Youth Group or in the church office by no later than March 18th.

Senior High Beach Retreat is April 27-29. Cost: $45.00. Sign up and pay at Youth Group or in the church office by April 15th.

YOUTH BAKE SALE
Mark your calendar for Wednesday, March 28 during family night supper. Our youth will sponsor a bake sale with proceeds going towards an African Village the youth group has adopted. You will be able to get some yummie treats so come out and support our youth.

NC BAPTIST MISSION CONFERENCE AND
BAPTIST MEN’S CONVENTION

The NC Baptist Mission Conference and Baptist Men’s Convention will be held at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC March 30 – 31. Join us and fellow believers to experience a weekend of celebration and focus on Missions. Be encouraged, inspired and informed on how to heed God’s call “to serve one another in love.” Featured this year are Gary Smalley, Dennis Swanberg and the Annie Moses Band. Come join SALT (study and learn together) on Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. for a six week study on Galatians. Find out what Paul had to say about “Keeping the Faith.” Get your study materials and assignments on March 19th at 7:00 p.m.. The first discussion will be on March 26th. Location will be announced. ANNUAL FOOD AND SUPPLY DRIVE
FOR BAPTIST CHILDREN’S HOMES

Please plan to participate in the Annual Food and Supplies Drive for the Baptist Children’s Homes of NC on April 16th and 17th. This year Johnston Baptist Association will donate paper towels, toilet tissue, tinfoil, dish detergents, laundry detergent and cleaning supplies. Please begin gathering these items or if you or your class would like to begin saving to donate money, the Tharringtons will be happy to purchase these supplies for you on April 14th.

RELAY FOR LIFE
Shop for the Cure: Belk stores are offering 20% off coupons for charities. We will be selling these coupons for $5.00 each, of which all $5.00 goes to our Relay for Life team. We will be selling them for the month of March. Please contact Carolyn Jones at 934-7742 or 631-5617 for coupons. They can be used at Belk Store on March 30 or 31st.

Relay Table: Someone will be in the Fellowship Hall between early worship and Sunday School most Sundays in order for you to purchase any of our bracelets, ribbons, luminaries, shirts or Belk coupons. Let’s make this a church-wide project and our best year yet.

SPRING TEA RESCHEDULED
Due to circumstances beyond our control the Spring Tea has been canceled for March 17th. The Tea has been RESCHEDULED for Saturday, May 12. Please mark your calendar for this date.

HISTORY TIDBIT
In April, 1865, General Sherman and his soldiers entered Smithfield after their victory at Bentonville. Some soldiers camped in the church and wrote their names, company, and hometowns in the pulpit Bible. This Bible is on display in a case behind the Sanctuary.

ON MISSION
There will be a Disaster Relief Trip going to work in Grifton leaving Friday, March 23rd and returning Saturday evening March 24th. All skill levels are needed. If you would like to go please call Joyce Wright at 934-3547 or call the church office.

ATTENTION: ALL COOKS
The M & M’s are compiling recipes for their second FBC Cookbook and need all your delicious, scrumptious, mouthwatering recipes. So start gathering your recipes and turn them in on your Sunday School Class clipboard, the church office or any M & M member. The deadline for recipes is March 30. YMCA PRAYER BREAKFAST
Everyone is invited to the 7th Annual YMCA Prayer Breakfast It will be Thursday, April 12th from 6:45 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Guest speaker is David Thompson (former NCSU basketball player.) Breakfast is provided.

HAS YOUR CHILD LOST A COAT?

If your child has lost a coat please check in the upstairs Sunday School rooms. There are several good coats in these rooms. If these coats have not been claimed by April 1 they will be put in the Clothes Closet.

SPRUCING UP!
Be on the look out in late March for some “sprucing up” in our educational area behind the Sanctuary. You may have to come in a different way since we will be having tile and carpet installed as well as paint and wallpaper. More information will be available in the next few weeks.
