So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him
Hebrews 9:28 (NIV)

Watch the children’s costumes this Halloween. You’ll see Batman, Kim Possible, Superman, and even Princess Peach. We LOVE our superheroes! It's fun to imagine, read the comics, and visit websites that tell us what kind of superhero WE should be. But what does it really mean to be a hero—especially for us everyday folks trying to follow Jesus and live the Good News of God's love? Calling all PASSPORTkids! to uncover our true identities, as "HEROES: Ordinary People, Extraordinary Lives." We’ll hear the exploits of both famous and lesser known people in the Bible—like Miriam, David, and a group of fantastic four dedicated friends—who did seemingly small things that made a big difference in the world. We’ll also leap, soar, and run faster than a speeding bullet to the other side of the globe as we learn about India and the heroic missions work happening there. Join us for the adventure, and meet the true source of our heroic power—Jesus of Nazareth. Chaperones currently signed up to go – Shannon Council & Valerie Vann. Male Chaperones to be announced.

SENIOR PROJECT
My name is Christian Lamm and I am working on my Senior Project. I have chosen to continue the Gary Blackmon Memorial Golf Tournament, which was started in 2007 as a Senior Project. The tournament will be held Friday, April 3, 2009 at Reedy Creek Golf Course with a 1:00 p.m. tee time. Gary Blackmon was the coach of the SJHS Girls’ Softball and Varsity Girls’ Basketball teams. He was a friend and coach to all students and he inspired every student to portray pride, sportsmanship and character, athletically and in their daily lives. A scholarship was set up at SJHS to acknowledge one senior who exemplifies these traits. Net proceeds raised through this tournament will directly support this scholarship. If you would like to support Christian with his Senior project and for registration information about this event please contact Christian Lamm at 963-2971.

PRAYER CORNER FOR OPERATION IN AS MUCH
This Saturday, March 28th, teams from First Baptist Church will be going throughout Johnston County to spread God’s love and to fulfill God’s command to share the Gospel through the power of the Holy Spirit.

We serve Jesus by ministering to the people. “The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40)

As we share Jesus with the people that we serve, we do so through the power of the Holy Spirit. We read in Acts chapter 1 that Jesus told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the gift the Father had promised. This gift was the Holy Spirit. When we go out Saturday, we do so with the power of the Holy Spirit who came to live in our hearts when we accepted Jesus as our Savior. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). With this power, the disciples turned the world upside down for Jesus.

• Pray for the leading of the Holy Spirit in all situations (John 14:26; Acts 1:8)
• Pray that God will help us to willingly, boldly and clearly share the message of Jesus (Acts 4:29-31)
• Pray that we will show our love for God as we serve in this ministry (Matthew 22:37-39)
• Pray that God will receive all the glory for the successes of the day (Isaiah 48:11)

The OIAM Prayer Team meets each Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 6:15 in the church library for focused prayer. Please join us!
