So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him

HISTORY TIDBIT
Legend has it that during the late 1860’s and 70’s few services were held in the church by the Baptists. A faithful church member, “Aunt” Patsy Crocker, came every third Saturday to sweep out the building and to kneel to pray for the revival of the church. When others wanted to take over the building, she claimed it for the Baptists.

NEW MEMBER
We welcome into our Christian fellowship Ashley Poole who comes to us by profession of faith and believers baptism.

MUSIC NOTES
THANK YOU TO LENTEN WORSHIP LEADERS

Several church members have had leadership roles in helping plan Lenten services. Susan Broadwell recruited the readers for the Lenten Candles series at 10:55 worship. Geri Hubbard helped recruit artists to design bulletin covers during Lent. Thank you to Doug Strickland, Ruth Andrews, and Amanda Ward for sharing their artistic talents. Danny Hensley took the lead as the JPS man (Jerusalem Postal Service) at all six of our early worship skits, and many other actors helped each week. Brenda Heard took care of the candles and the communion table. All of our choirs, bell groups, and several instrumentalists shared at various Sunday and Holy Week services.

THANK YOU
We would like to thank everyone for their cards, phone calls, flowers and visits during the recent loss of our mother, Agnes Stanley. She was an active member of First Baptist for many years, leaving only to help establish Sharon Baptist as a mission of First Baptist. While there she continued to be active in all areas, especially missions. As a resident of Smithfield Manor for four years, she enjoyed “her church” First Baptist on Thursday mornings for Bible study. She enjoyed seeing everyone but especially Hortense Wilkins, and was proud when her niece Anesha Johnson conducted the program. Members of First Baptist church are truly family. Dianne Shirley and Sharon Parrish
