So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him

For the Church-wide Commitment Sunday
Sunday School will begin at normal time, 9:45 a.m., but will dismiss at 10:30 a.m.
We will enjoy:
• Lunch on the grounds. Bar-B-Que, Fried Chicken with additional sides, Desserts, Drinks, Chicken Tenders (for kids) with indoor and outdoor seating available.

• We will have inflatable for the children (parents dress them appropriately or bring a change of clothes) and parents will need to supervise them while at play.

• Commitment Card brochures were mailed out to share information about the commitment process and allow members time to reflect upon their level of commitment. You will receive another commitment card in your order of service on the 25th for you and your family can bring forward as a special part of the worship service.

• On the Commitment Card there is a line for “Other.” This is where you may indicate to “pray for our church and give as I am able” if this more accurately reflects your commitment rather than the other options offered on your card.

CALL TO PRAYER
II Corinthians 8:9 "for you know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich." Christ Jesus set the example for our giving - as He sacrificed himself for us. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, He gave His only Son; that everyone who believes in him, might have eternal life." In God's heart, we are worth it.

First Baptist Church exists with the tools and facilities to serve in Christ's name because of the sacrifice and the gifts of it's members. We have seen the lives of many people change because of what we have given through the years. It is worth it.

God gave - people of faith have given-- Now it is time for our faithful, hopeful, joyful response.
II Corinthians 8:11-12 "Now finish doing this, so that your eagerness may be matched by completing it according to your means. For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has."

Prayer: "Thank you Lord for the inexpressible grace you have given to me. Bless my gift, and use my gift to bless others in your name." "Make the pledge commitment that you feel right about and joyful about in your heart" It is worth it!! Submitted by the Leadership Prayer Tea

RELAY FOR LIFE

Luminaries
Please remember to sign up on the Sunday School clipboards to purchase your luminaries for Relay for Life. We all know someone who has been touched by cancer so honor that person with a luminary. Luminaries can be purchased for $10, $25 or $100. Deadline for purchasing your luminaries is May 5. For more information, please call Carolyn Jones at 934-7742.

Pictures Needed
I want to do a bulletin board in recognition of Relay For Life and I need your help. If anyone in your family, our church family, has been diagnosed with cancer, I would love to have a picture for our bulletin board. This can be if they are fighting now, have been lost to cancer, or have won the race. I need the picture by May 1. Please leave your picture in the church office or get to me, Carolyn Jones. Thanks so much for your help.

DESSERTS FOR MOM
Need a dessert for that special mother in your life? Look no more. On Sunday, May 9th Relay for Life will sponsor a Bake Sale in the Fellowship Hall. All proceeds will go to Relay for Life. Call Debbie Jones at 934-7861 if you could bake a dessert for this fundraiser.

PRAYER CORNER FOR OPERATION INASMUCH (OIAM)
We will be touching the lives of many people on Saturday as we serve the community through OIAM. We do this through the power of the Holy Spirit who came to live in us when we accepted Him as Savior.
• Pray that God will help us to willingly, boldly and clearly share the message of Jesus through our words and actions. (Acts 4:29-31)
• Pray that we will show our love for Jesus and for each other as we serve in this ministry (Matthew 22:37-39)
• Pray that God will receive all the glory for the successes of the day (Isaiah 48:11)
