HISTORY
TIDBIT
In 1897 John Suttle, a young pastor, was called
to be pastor. He arrived by train in Selma,
and on the four mile buggy ride to Smithfield,
he felt that Johnston County consisted of a
backwoods wilderness. He was far more educated
than the majority of the people in the county.

the Raleigh Ringers have been dazzling concert

secular and popular music, including famous
rock ‘n’ roll tunes arranged just
for handbells. Many of our adult handbell ringers
have seen this group at festivals and been amazed
by them. All ages would enjoy this program.

to see how many luminaries our church can have,
lighting the path around the pond at JCC. Remember
the luminaries can be purchased in memory or
in honor of someone we have known with cancer.
So many have been touched by this disease. Let’s
remember all of them. Luminaries are $10.00
each. Contact Carolyn Jones at 934-7742 or by
mail at 65 Huntington Place, Smithfield.

provided funds to purchase many supplies and
those who donated supplies. A special thank
you to those who helped load the truck at JCC
