So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him

HERE ARE A FEW WAYS TO HELP

Relay for Life
WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! Let their lights shine – Relay will be here in 4 weeks and we are short of our goals. We really need everyone to remember those we love who have or have had cancer by purchasing luminaries. The can be in honor of those winning their fight or in memory of those who have lost their battle to cancer. Don’t ever let their light go out…..buy luminaries!!!

Raffle Tickets – Don’t forget to buy your Raffle Ticket for the Relay for Life Quilt. Call Mary Ball at 934-6382 or Carolyn Jones at 934-7742 or 631-5617.

Keep that Peanut Butter Coming! - We are still collecting 18 oz. jars of peanut butter for the Backpack Program. This is going to be an ongoing mission here at First Baptist. Please drop your donations at the church office.

Friends of Children - The Friends of Children Day at the Kennedy Home will be Saturday, May 3. Adults and youth are needed to go help in the Bunker Cottage where we will be sanding furniture. We will leave the church at 7:30 a.m. and return by 2:30 p.m. We will help in this cottage, have lunch and a short meeting. Please don’t miss this time of work, fun and fellowship with these children. If you would like to go please contact Carolyn Tharrington at 934-3749.

MUSIC NOTES
Coming May 11, Mother’s Day: our children’s choirs will share the music they’ve learned at evening Mother’s Day Vespers at 7 p.m., including a mini-musical by the Older Children’s Choir, “Family’s Home and Dinner on the Grounds.”

First Baptist Belles are ringing in the 10:55 a.m. service this week. After lunch (1:30 p.m.) they are leading in a “sing and ring” program at Carolina House in Smithfield.

Thank you to all the youth who led musically for Youth Sunday last week: the 12-member senior high instrument ensemble, the singers and players in PB &J, and the entire “youth choir.”

THANK YOU
To my Church Family, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your care and concern during my recent hospital stay and the words of comfort we received after Bill’s sister’s death. I feel blessed to be a part of such a loving and supportive church family and to have such a wonderful, caring pastor, Lee Colbert. Bill and Vertie Perry
