BAPTIST MEN’S DAY
This Sunday, a number of men will be leading us in worship through messages, scripture and prayers. Brian Vetrano, Mike Carroll and Doug Strickland will be our speakers for the morning worship. Special music for the occasion will be provided by the Men’s Chorus and the Baptist Blend Quartet.

These men who are leading are but a small representation of the fine lay leadership which we have in our fellowship. It can be an exciting time in the life of our church as we share and reaffirm our faith with one another.

YOUTH NEWS
FBC Youth meet Sunday, May 6 at 6:15 for Snack Supper followed by Bible Study at 7:00 p.m. Muriel Lasater, Jennifer & Jonathan Gibbs, Cara Jordan & Landon Price, Kevin Smith, Allison & Olivia Stevens, and Chelsie Upton are responsible for Snack Supper.

YARD SALE UPDATE
Youth and adults are needed Saturday, May 6 from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Please wear any FBC shirt on Saturday. Also we need donations of empty boxes and grocery bags, 2 liter sodas and individually wrapped snacks. Call Jan Allen at 989-7195 or Tommy Cook to sign up or for more information. From Infants to Adults
9 a.m. to Noon in the FBC Fellowship Hall

We are calling upon our church members and others who wish to support our village to look within your closets and drawers to find some good quality, gently used clothing to donate for this cause. You can bring the clothes by the church by May 16. We will sell these items on May 19th . CALLING ALL 3RD – 6TH GRADERS PASSPORTKIDS 2007
To date we have 12 kids signed up to go to PassportKids Camp at Wingate University near Charlotte, NC, June 19 – 23. It’s not too late. We still have room for four more. BABY DEDICATIONS
Baby Dedications will be Mother’s Day, May 13th. If you have had a baby since last May and would like to have your baby dedicated, please call the church office.

HISTORY TIDBIT
Under John Suttle’s leadership the church revitalized. In 1899 a building fund to build a new church was started. In 1907 a lot at the corner of Fourth and Johnston Streets was purchased for five hundred dollars. The lot was 210’ by 140’.

MUSIC NOTES
The First Baptist Belles are ringing an outreach program at the Outlet Mall this Sunday May 6 from around 2 to 3 p.m. at the courtyard area near Stormin’ Norman’s.

Johnston County Chorale Spring Concert “Song of America” is Thursday, May 10 at the Clayton Center at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance from Joe Morgan (938-3025) or at the door. The music is all patriotic and includes choreography, costumes and an instrumental group.

Our Children’s Choirs end of year program is at Mother’s Day Vespers Sunday May 13 at 7 p.m. The Older Children’s Choir will present “Down by the Creekbank.”

Deadline to sign up for the Raleigh Ringers’ concert (see below) is next Friday May 11.

ATTENTION OLDER CHILDREN’S CHOIR
We will have a rehearsal for the speaking parts in Down by the Creekbank on Sunday, May 6th at 4:30 p.m. in the Music Room. We’ll end by 5:30 p.m. Please try to attend.

LET’S GO SEE THE RALEIGH RINGERS
Saturday, June 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Meymandi Hall at the Progress Energy Center in Raleigh, the Raleigh Ringers will perform their Spring Concert. We will take a bus from the church parking lot, leaving at 5:00 p.m. to go to Golden Corral in Garner for supper (on your own). Then we will attend the concert at Meymandi Hall. Cost of $14 includes a group rate ticket and transportation.All ages would enjoy this program. Call the church office to sign up by Friday, May 11.

CALLING ALL MEN
This Sunday is Baptist Men’s Day at First Baptist (postponed from the end of January when Pastor Lee was recuperating from surgery) All men are invited to come to the music room at 10:30, warm up, and sit in the choir loft as part of the men’s chorus providing the call to worship and benediction response. Roger Wood is leading this group this year. Please come!

COMING THIS SUMMER FOR CHILDREN
Traveler’s Club starts Thursday June 14 and meets weekly on Thursday mornings at 9 a.m. for kids having completed K-6. Camp Crescendo Music Camp will be July 9-13 for the same age group. Registration forms for both events will be available in May. Vacation Bible School is July 30-August 3; no pre-registration is required. This is for ages 2 through grade 6. Registration forms for these events will be available in mid-May.

ATTENTION MEN
Come join SALT (study and learn together) on Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. beginning May 7th for a six week study on Ephesians. Location will be announced. Call Steve Adkins at 965-3782 or the church office at 934-9771 to sign up.

LET’S GO SEE BRYAN HARRIS GRADUATE FROM CAMPBELL
Monday May 14 the church bus the church bus will leave at 8:00 a.m., taking a group to attend the 9 a.m. Graduation ceremony for Bryan Harris, our Minister of Education and Outreach. All are welcome to go. We will eat lunch on the way home. Please call the office to sign up.

IN CONCERT
Prime Time Singers of Snyder Memorial, Fayetteville, will be singing in our Fellowship Hall as part of their spring tour on Weds., May 16 at 6:30 p.m. Around 55 singers will share a brief worship program of familiar and well loved hymns. Family Suppers end on May 10, so please eat before or after you come to the program.

MUSIC HISTORY TIDBIT
Did you know that this year mark’s the 40th anniversary of handbell ministry in our church? The first set of bells was purchased in 1967 by an anonymous donor. Think of the many lives that have been touched by those children, youth and adults who have rung and the worshippers who have been inspired by their tones.

RELAY FOR LIFE BAKE SALE
Need a dessert for that special mother in your life? Look no more. On Sunday, May 13th Relay for Life will sponsor a Bake Sale in the Fellowship Hall. All proceeds will go to Relay for Life. Call Debbie Jones at 934-7861 if you could bake a dessert for this fundraiser.

CANCER SURVIVORS
Survivors and their spouses/guests are invited to attend the 2007 Relay for Life Survivor Social on Tuesday, May 15th at 7:00 p.m. in the Theater Lobby at Johnston Community College. Light refreshments will be served. Door prizes will be given away.

BIBLE DRILL WINNERS
Congratulations to the following who were winners of the Children’s State Bible Drill: Cooper Andrews, Elizabeth Carter, Libby Dotson, Hinton Edgerton, Taylor Leposa and James McMillen. Also congratulations to Muriel Lasater who won in the Youth State Bible Drill.

SUMMER BIBLE STUDY
You are invited to join a women’s Bible Study this summer using the book The Other Side of the Garden by Virginia Fugate. It will meet on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. in the Ryberg Hall and childcare will be available. The study will begin June 7th and continue through August 23rd.
