So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him

First Baptist Celebrates Mother’s Day

“Her children rise up and call her blessed….” Proverbs 31

8:45 a.m. Worship: Leadership by Stephen Jones, Jimmy Jones, sermon by the pastor
10:55 a.m. Worship: Parent/Child Dedication, special hymns and anthems by the choir, sermon by the pastor

7:00 p.m. Worship: Children’s Choirs Closing Program, with music by all our children’s choirs and a mini-musical, “Family’s Home and Dinner on the Grounds”

This Sunday’s anthem at 10:55 is a special setting of Proverbs 31 written by our own Melba Woodruff, who passed away earlier this year. “She Shall be Praised” celebrates God’s goodness through all women of faith, and also honors Melba as we remember her contribution through music to our church and community.

YOUTH GROUP
FBC Youth Group will NOT meet this Sunday. Enjoy the day with your mother.

Attention Norfolk Mission Trip Participants: Balance of $50 for the Norfolk Mission Trip is due NOW! Please bring payments to the church office.

SPONSOR A CHILD FROM MPOLONJENI
If you want to continue making an impact to the community of Mpolonjeni in Swaziland, Africa, you have an opportunity to sponsor a child. Just $35 a month (a little over a dollar a day) benefits a child in this AIDS-affected region, along with his or her family and their community.

You’ll be able to demonstrate the unconditional love of God by helping to provide access to resources like clean water, nutritious food, basic health care, educational opportunities, and economic development assistance – plus critical resources such as compassionate, trained volunteers to help children whose parents are sick or dying; age appropriate HIV-prevention education based on biblical values; and practical life skills training.

All of these essentials work together to break the cycle of poverty and help sponsored children reach his or her God-given potential.

Upon our visit to Swaziland, we met many children who were under the umbrella of World Vision Sponsorship and feel it is a valuable ministry. If you’re not sponsoring a child already, please consider doing so.

FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE SEE OR CALL TOMMY AT CHURCH.

Keep that Peanut Butter Coming! - We are still collecting 18 oz. jars of peanut butter for the Backpack Program. This is going to be an ongoing mission here at First Baptist. Please drop your donations at the church office.

Magazines and Bibles – If you have a child of any age who receives a Christian magazine or monthly devotional magazine that you would be willing to give away after your child is finished with them, please call Terry Carroll at 934-5882. We would like to share these materials with children who attend Sunday School at the Flea market. Also, if you have any Bibles you would like to donate they would be useful too.
