All graduates are invited to be honored guests of the church at the Graduate Banquet June 7, 2009 following the 10:55 service. Family members are invited to attend at a cost of $8.50 per person (children 5 – 10 $4.50). Please call the church office by or before Friday, May 29th and let us know if you will be attending and how many from your family will be with you. Our menu will be Roast Beef au jus, Herbed Potatoes, Green Bean Almandine, Side Salad, Rolls, Dessert and Tea. College graduates or parents of college graduates, don’t forget to call and let us know what degree you will be receiving so we may recognize you in the bulletin and Visitor.

TRAVELER’S CLUB 2009
Don’t forget, Traveler’s Club Registration forms and payments are due by or before June 1, 2009. Registration forms have been mailed out and are available in the church office.

HELP!
Our Soup Kitchen really needs YOU!!! We deliver meals to folks who are not able to come, and who otherwise might not have food. Volunteers are needed to deliver in the Smithfield area on the first, second, fourth and fifth Mondays, and on the fourth Thursday. ALSO, volunteers are needed to pick up food at White Swan Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evenings. If you can help in anyway, please, please, please call Anesha Johnson at 934-1601 or Sybil Edwards at 934-4972. Please help us help others.

MISSION TRIP TO HONDURAS
We are off again to Honduras, leaving June 6th .and medications are needed. We need: over the counter baby and children’s medicines, vitamins, ointments and creams for skin and feet. If you would like to donate any of these much needed items, please feel free to drop them at the church office. We will also accept monetary donations and do the shopping for you. Any and all donations are needed no later than Monday, June 1 and are greatly appreciated.

MAKING CHANGES
Do you have an idea for the church? Maybe an addition somewhere in the building or on the grounds, would like to paint a room, etc.? Whatever your thought may be, please consult the Building and Grounds Committee before proceeding.


IT’S THIS WEEKEND!!!
The opening ceremonies for Relay for Life are at 6:00 p.m. Friday May 29th around the pond at Johnston Community College. Please come out and support our team.

SUMMER STUDIES
Here are some wonderful learning opportunities to check out during the summertime. If you are interested in one of these opportunities please get signed up as soon as you can. Materials will have to be ordered and they need time to arrive before the groups begin to meet.

Fireproof Your Marriage Study (6 weeks)
Wednesday nights 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in room 224 (across from youth room) $21.00 per couple (includes two books and shipping charges) Class size: 12-14 couples

Terry Carroll will facilitate the study. The study will begin on June 3. Childcare will be provided. Please indicate the age and number of children you will need care for.

PRIMETIMERS’ UPCOMING DAY TRIPS
• June 2 (Tues.) Seagroves Potteries and lunch
• July 14 (Tues.) Rocky Hock Play House, Edenton, NC, “Joseph the Dreamer” and meal. We will leave the church at 10:00 a.m. Lunch will be on site at Mrs. Cromley’s Country Buffet at noon. This is an all you can eat buffet and includes the following: fried chicken, NC pit-cooked barbecue, fish, vegetables, coleslaw, potato salad, mixed fruit salad, hush puppies or rolls, tea, coffee, and dessert. Cost for this trip is $35.00 per person (includes play, buffet and gas. Tip is not included) Sign up and pay by noon on Monday, June 15 in the church office.

BOOMERANG EXPRESS
Vacation Bible School is almost here. Mark the dates down on your calendar, July 6-10. The theme is this year is “It all Comes back to Jesus” using 1 John 4:9 as our theme verse. This is always such a powerful and effective outreach of our church. Your help is vital to make this ministry happen. GOLD AWARD
Abby Johnson is working towards earning her Girl Scout Gold Award. She is asking for donations of toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, and sugar- free chewing gum to be donated to the Boys and Girls Club in Selma. If you can help, there will be a clear box in the storage room in the church office for your donations. Thank you so much.
