NEWS
ATTENTION YOUTH GOING TO CASWELL
All balances and paperwork for Caswell are DUE
in the church office no later than Monday, June
11th. Please get all you information in so we
can complete paperwork for Caswell.
THE
LOWLY PENNY
As most of you know our youth are sponsoring
a village in Swaziland, Mpolonjeni, Africa,
one of the hardest hit areas by AIDS. One way
that we are trying to raise funds is to collect
pennies every Sunday before and after worship.
If you would like to bring your pennies (other
coins will work, too) our youth will be glad
to take them off your hands. Please help us
“stretch” our pennies to reach out
and touch this village.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE
The Nominating Committee has begun to meet.
This committee has two goals to achieve.
1) To identify servants for ministry for the
upcoming church year, September ‘07- August
’08
2) To present to the church a completed report
confirming the names of those serving in various
ministry areas for that year throughout our
church.
THIS
DOES NOT HAPPEN WITHOUT YOU!
Please be considering your top three choices
for ministry through our fellowship. You may
not always be able to serve in your first choice
but there are more than enough opportunities
for everyone to join in. Being a part of God’s
work through our church is not simply an option;
it is vital for a developing faith and essential
for meeting needs in our community. Christ died
for you; make a commitment to serve for Him.
God has given every believer a gift. We all
need to serve out of our giftedness. Everyone
has something they can bring into the ministry
mix at FBC.
For
ideas on where you can serve please see the
current Nominating Committee Report on our web
site (www.fbcsmithfield.org).
Please
contact any member of the Nominating Committee
if you have a question or are interested in
serving. Gayle Bizzell, Dan Evans, Evelyn Garris,
Bryan Harris, Billy Wiggs, June Ward, Joyce
Wright.

HISTORY
TIDBIT
Smithfield and Selma wanted to have a pastor
living among them. To that end, a two-story
wooden parsonage was built beside the Smithfield
church on Fourth Street. F. H. King, who had
come in January, 1910 lived in the parsonage
and served both Smithfield and Selma until he
resigned in 1912.
GRADUATE CORRECTIONS
Kristin Andrews Davis graduated from UNC-W with
a degree in Communication Studies (not ECU).
Bo Harrison graduated from UNC-W with a degree

PERSONNEL PHOTOS NEEDED
Did you serve in the armed forces or have a
family member (FBC Church Member) who is currently
serving? We would like to use their photos for
a tribute as part of the Patriotic Vespers on
Sunday evening July 1. Please bring a well marked
photo to the church office no later than June
18 (Monday). Note: If you turned in a photo
five years ago for a similar program (2002),
