So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him
Hebrews 9:28 (NIV)

YOUTH NEWS

CASWELL….IT’S HERE
All youth and adults going to Caswell will meet Monday morning, June 15th at 9:00 a.m. Please take your luggage to the U-Haul and hold on to anything you wish to take with you on the buses. After your luggage is loaded, check in at the entrance to the Sanctuary with Paul Burgess (girls) or Nikki Crumley (guys). Parents please make sure all balances are paid. We will return by lunch on Saturday, June 20th.

MAKING CHANGES
Do you have an idea for the church? Maybe an addition somewhere in the building or on the grounds, would like to paint a room, etc.? Whatever your thought may be, please consult the Building and Grounds Committee before proceeding.

IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN!
Sign up in your Sunday School Class or call the church office to bring your favorite, scrumptious, sinfully delicious homemade ice cream on June 28th for Patriotic Vespers.

OUR KNOWN SICK

There is still room if you would like to go to the Rocky Hock Play House, in Washington, NC, to see “Joseph the Dreamer.” Sign up and pay in the church office by noon on June 15. We will leave the church at 10:00 a.m. Lunch will be on site at Mrs. Cromley’s Country Buffet at noon. This is an all you can eat buffet and includes the following: fried chicken, NC pit-cooked barbecue, fish, vegetables, coleslaw, potato salad, mixed fruit salad, hush puppies or rolls, tea, coffee, and dessert. Cost for this trip is $35.00 per person (includes play, buffet and gas. Tip is not included.)

DEMENTIA SUPPORT GROUP
Everyone is invited to join us Thursday, June 18 at 1:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall for information on Medication Safety in Patients with Dementia. Dr. Lea C. Watson from Department of Psychiarty, UNC School of Medicine will join us to discuss this issue.

DEVOTIONAL
A devotional message will be on the FBC Website each week this summer. Go to the Website, http://fbcsmithfield.org/, and click on the Prayer tab.

ARE YOU A CHRIST FOLLOWER?
The Nominating Committee has begun its work to connect Christ followers with ministry opportunities. Are you a Christ follower? Do you believe that God calls all His children to touch hearts and change lives through His provision and gifting? Please be actively praying concerning how God is calling you to serve the needs of our community and fellowship over the next year. Please pray for the committee as we seek the Spirit’s leading in coordinating the gifts and talents God has assembled here at FBCS. Please feel free to contact any of the committee members; Joyce Wright (Chairperson), Gayle Bizzell, Kay Carroll, Terry Carroll or Judy Williams with your responses or questions.

VBS 2009
BOOMERANG EXPRESS
Vacation Bible School is almost here. Mark the dates down on your calendar, July 6-10. The theme this year is “It all Comes back to Jesus” using 1 John 4:9 as our theme verse. This is always such a powerful and effective outreach of our church. Your help is vital to make this ministry happen. Please contact Bryan Harris if you want to be a part of touching the lives of Preschoolers and Children as well as the families they are a part of. Don’t miss out being blessed as you seek to be a blessing to others. Contact Bryan today!

VBS NEEDS
We need 90 shoebox lids for crafts. If you have any shoebox lids to donate, please bring them to the church office.

GOLD AWARD
Abby Johnson is working towards earning her Girl Scout Gold Award. She is asking for donations of toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, and sugar-free chewing gum to be donated to the Boys and Girls Club in Selma. If you can help, there will be a clear box in the storage room in the church office for your donations. Thank you so much.

T-SHIRTS FOR GUATEMALA
T-Shirts will be available to help raise money for Tabitha, our partnering ministry in Guatemala. The ministry seeks to aid impoverished mothers living in a Guatemalan dump by providing childcare so that the mothers can earn income during the day. The T-Shirts reflect the spirit of the Tabitha mission—providing hope in the dump. Shirts come in adult sizes S-XL, and are available in the church office for a donation of at least $10.

FLOWERS
The flowers Sunday will be given to the glory of God and in honor of Vitus H. Carroll on the occasion of her birthday and in celebration of the fifth wedding anniversary of Frank and Betsy Knott by Kay and Terry Carroll.
