YOUTH
NEWS CHATTANOOGA MISSION TRIP
The Youth Mission Trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee
is just around the corner and all paperwork
and fees are due in the church office by or
before Thursday, July 12th. You will be receiving
a reminder card in the mail soon.
THE
LOWLY PENNY
As most of you know our youth are sponsoring
a village in Swaziland, Mpolonjeni, Africa,
one of the hardest hit areas by AIDS. One way
that we are trying to raise funds is to collect
pennies every Sunday before and after worship.
If you would like to bring your pennies (other
coins will work, too) our youth will be glad
to take them off your hands. Please help us
“stretch” our pennies to reach out
and touch this village.

Yes, it’s that time……time
for a new Church Directory. Olan Mills will
be here August 9 – 11, August 27 &
27 and September 6 – 8. Mark your calendars
for these dates. Families with college kids
plan your pictures early so your college kids
can be in the pictures. Sign-ups will begin
soon. Let’s get as many families represented
as possible and make this the BEST directory
ever.
BABY
SHOWER FOR TEEN MOTHERS
Back in the spring when we did Operation InAsMuch
we had planned to do a Teen Baby Shower. Due
to the amount of time it takes to plan and gather
all of the items needed for this project we
were not able to do it then. We’re ready
now! We’ve partnered with Social Services
and have the names of 15 teen moms that really
need our help. We need help gathering the essentials
and a few non-essentials to help get these babies
off to a good start. Also, we will shop for
you if you would like to make a donation for
the shower. We need 15 of each of the items
listed below:
The babies need:
Size 1 diapers
Baby wipes
Bottles
Bottle nipple refills
Baby wash and lotion
Diaper bags
Burp clothes
Pacifiers
Any new or gently used baby items (i.e. playpens,
bouncy seats, car seats, etc.)
The
moms need:
Deodorant
Soaps
Lotions
Feminine hygiene products
Shampoo
Conditioners
Please drop off your donations by or before
July 3rd in the church office. If you have any
questions or can help in any way please contact
Susan Culbreth 965-9141.

HISTORY TIDBIT
With a loan of $2,000, the sanctuary was remodeled
so it could seat 300 comfortably and a two-story,
free standing wooden Sunday School annex was
built. This took place between 1916 and 1918
when H. B. Brinson was pastor.
MUSICAL
OUTING FOR ALL AGES
Thursday, July 19th the All State Baptist Youth
Choir will sing a concert in Duke University
Chapel at 7:00 p.m. A group will depart Smithfield
at 4:00 p.m., eat supper on the way and return
afterwards. We will drive personal vehicles.
Church vehicles will be on the Mission Trip.
Call the church office to sign up.
WORLD
CHANGERS
World Changers will be in Smithfield next week,
June 23-30. Please be in prayer for all those
traveling here from up and down the east coast
to work in Johnston County.
ON
MISSION TO AFRICA
On Friday, June 22, we leave on our Mission
trip to South Africa and Mozambique. We will
return on Friday, July 27. Many thanks to all
of our family and friends who are supporting
us in this endeavor with prayer and funds. Because
of your Christian love for us and for those
in need, we have raised over $16,000. After
paying our travel expenses, we will have at
least $7,000 to contribute to the needs of the
residents of the village Dondo in Mozambique.
Please pray for us and for those that we meet
that we will effectively spread the word of
God and his love, grace and salvation. In Christ,
Lam Armstrong, Hinton Armstrong, and Adam Carroll
