OPPORTUNITIES
TO SERVE IN VBS……SOMETHING TO PONDER
My
dishes went unwashed today,
I didn’t make the bed,
I took God’s hand and followed Him
To vacation Bible School instead.
Oh, yes, we went adventuring,
The children, faculty and I,
Exploring the Bible.
It’s truths we can’t deny.
That my house was neglected,
That I didn’t sweep the stairs,
In twenty years no one on earth
Will know or even care.
But that I’ve helped a boy or girl
To Christ-like adulthood grow,
In twenty years, the whole wide world
May look and see and know.
YOUTH
ON MISSION
Please be in prayer for our youth and chaperones
as they depart for Salyersville, Kentucky, this
Saturday, June 26, 2010 for their Mission Trip.
Pray for safe travel and that they may touch the
lives of others as they give a week of their lives
to the work of our Lord.

THANK
YOU
I would like to take this opportunity to thank
the Ryberg Scholarship Committee for selecting
me as the 2010 recipient of the John L. Ryberg
Scholarship, and my church family for giving me
so much since I joined First Baptist. This scholarship
will be a tremendous help in allowing me to further
my education at DePaul University, so that I may
one day reach my goals of performing professionally
in a major symphony or orchestra and establishing
a music institute for children in rural areas
who many not have access to the world of opportunities
that music can open for them! The church family
at First Baptist Church of Smithfield has always
provided a loving, nurturing community in which
young Christians can learn and grow, and each
member has unique gifts that bring new things
to the table. Our church has been a vital part
of my life, and as I continue to grow stronger
in my faith I thank the Lord for the people He
has given me! Thank you! Cordially, Brandon Allen
QUASQUICENTENNIAL
This year, our Baptist Children’s Homes
celebrates its Quasquicentennial (125 years!)
N.C. Baptists are becoming a part of history by
creating personalized tapestry squares which will
be tied together to make a huge “Growing
Hope” tapestry. I am thrilled that our 6th
graders will create squares in Vacation Bible
School this year. If you would like to decorate
a square, please call me at 934-3749 as I will
be ordering additional squares soon. Thank you
for your loving support of Baptist children’s
Homes. Carolyn Tharrington
