6:00 p.m. OR Wednesday, August 22nd at 6:30
p.m. for a parent youth informational meeting
for the upcoming year. We will meet in the Fellowship

CASWELL
DVD AND GROUP PICTURE
Caswell DVDs and group pictures are now available.
Please call the church office or Mike Ward for
your copy. This cost is a donation to the Mpolonjeni,
Africa project.
As
most of you know our youth are sponsoring a
village in Swaziland, Mpolonjeni, Africa, one
of the hardest hit areas by AIDS. One way that
we are trying to raise funds is to collect pennies
every Sunday before and after worship. If you
would like to bring your pennies (other coins
will work, too) our youth will be glad to take
them off your hands. We will be collecting through
August. Please continue to help us “stretch”
our pennies to reach out and touch this village.
ATTENTION
3RD – 6TH GRADERS
Mark your calendars for September 28 –
30 for a weekend retreat to Camp Oak Hill. The
theme this year is “Good Friends.”
On this weekend retreat we will enjoy Bible
study, camp activities, worship, fun and fellowship.
The cost is $85. You may pick up your registration
form and 2007 Permission Form in the church
office. Registration, permission forms and money
are due by Sunday, August 26.
HAVE
YOU MADE YOUR APPOINTMENT?
Have you made your appointment to have your
picture taken for our 2007 Church directory?
Our church is celebrating its 175th birthday
this year and we hope to make this directory
the best ever. Appointments are still available
for THIS WEEKEND August 10 and 11, as well as
August 27 and 28, and September 6, 7, and 8.
Call the church office to make your appointment.
The directory will not be complete without your
smiling face.
HISTORY TIDBIT
The remodeling project in the mid 30s included
remodeling the interior of the church, connecting
the Sunday School annex and the main building,

QUILTERS
I am looking for some quilters who might be
willing and able to donate their time to make
a quilt to be raffled off for our Relay for
Life team next year. I have my Relay T-Shirts
and would donate them for the project. Another
team did this last year. The quilt was beautiful
and it raised a lot of money for Relay. Anyone
interested, please contact Carolyn Jones at
934-7742.
AFRICA
T-SHIRTS AVAILABLE
I Love Mpolonjeni T- Shirts are available in
the church office. The cost is a $10 donation
(or more) to our Africa project.
HOME
MISSION OPPORTUNITY
I believe every member of our church family
has a vital role in the body of Christ. Each
member has a place in working for our Lord in
some capacity. Presently, the Soup Kitchen is
drastically in need of help. The Soup Kitchen
is God’s field in which He is working
and we are commanded to go where He is working
and join Him. This is an opportunity to do so.
If you can give an hour or two a month to help
in the Soup Kitchen, serving, setting up tables,
cleaning up or delivering meals, it would be
a wonderful thing. Some of our volunteers have
been faithful for four years serving in these
capacities every Monday and Thursday and they
need some relief. As a member of this family
of Christ, what are you doing for God’s
kingdom? Join in as a family member of our church
and let’s work together to glorify our
Lord. The Soup Kitchen is only one mission…..there
are many ways to serve our Lord. Please pray
and do whatever the Lord leads you to do. To
God be the glory. Anesha Johnson
BIBLE
STUDY FOR MEN
Beginning September 10, 2007, we’ll have
a discussion style study of Paul’s Letter
to the Romans. Lee Colbert will be there to
give us an overview of the New Testament Book
to get us started. We’ll use a study guide
to prepare us for the following sessions. The
group plans to meet on Monday evenings at 7
p.m. Make plans now to participate. You can
make a contribution and learn more about the
early Christian church that took over as the
official religion of the Roman Empire under
the rule of Constantine. If you have an interest,
please call Steve Adkins at 919-965-3782 or
the church office at 919-934-9771. Call now.
Notice will be sent as a reminder before the
first meeting. We look forward to the fellowship
of studying and learning together. Join us.
THANK YOUS
Thank you so very much for the cards, prayers,
food and phone calls while I have been recuperating
from knee replacement surgery on June 19. My
progress has been a little slow, but I am so
grateful for all the kindness shown and your
care and concern. I am so proud to be a part
of the First Baptist family. Words cannot express
how much I appreciate everything. May God richly
bless each of you. Betsy Peedin Knott
God
reveals his love to men and I have felt Gods
love through you at First Baptist during this
time of sorrow and grief. For all the comforting
acts of kindness and thoughtfulness you have
shown me, I am truly grateful. A very special
word of thanks goes to Lee, Alice, and Bryan.
Please continue to remember me in your prayers.
Carolyn Nall.
Thank
you so much for the surprise shower and gifts.
Words cannot express our appreciation. We love
you all. Monica and Michael Sanders
ATTENTION EMAIL PRAYER CHAIN MEMBERS
I have been doing maintenance on the email prayer
chain and would like to confirm that no addresses
were dropped during the process. This prayer
chain has grown significantly and has been divided
into three groups. Each group gets the prayer
request when one is sent out. IF YOU HAVE NOT
received any prayer requests in one week's time,
please email judithw222@msn.com
right away. Thank you for your dedication to
praying for others.
WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON BIBLE STUDY

SCHOOL SUPPLY NEEDS
It’s time for school to start again and
that means lots of supplies for kids. Unfortunately,
some parents cannot afford this extra expense
and we would like to help by collecting school
supplies. Some supplies that are always needed
are #2 pencils, notebook paper, binders, crayons,
colored pencils, glue sticks, markers, one subject
notebooks, 3 prong pocket folders, Kleenex,
wipes or hand sanitizer and paper towels. If
you can donate any supplies please bring them
to the church office.
