SOUP KITCHEN NEEDS YOU!
The Soup Kitchens greatest need is a team to clean up after the meals are served. This entails the following: arrive at 5:45 p.m., wash pots, pans and utensils and store in proper places, clean dining hall tables and vacuum, store all food in freezer or refrigerator, empty trash in dumpster, breakdown boxes for dumpster, leave kitchen clean, secure and lock building areas. Your call to the Clean Up Team is a commitment to the Lord’s Soup Kitchen Ministry. This team should consist of 3 – 4 members. One team member should be a man to help with heavey lifting and trash disposal. I hope this will help you visualize the critical importance of a clean up team. If you can help, have suggestions or questions, please call me at 631-2684. Thank you….Anesha Johnson.

HIGH SCHOOL MENTOR PROGRAM
Mentoring Support is a major goal of the Dropout Prevention Grant administered by East Carolina University and in partnership with Johnston County Schools. The role of the mentor is to provide respectful, empathic support and coaching through a long-term relationship in order to help at-risk students develop decision-making skills, interact appropriately with people, and positively self-advocate for resources. Linda Rideout, Grant Project Coach, will have meetings for those interested on Wednesday, August 10 @ 7:00 pm & Sunday, August, 14 @4:30 pm in the church Conference Room. For more information go to :
http://www.smithfieldselma.com/News.397.0.html
or contact Linda Rideout (915-0415, ridoutl@ecu.edu)
ATTENTION PRIMETIMERS
Make plans for a night of good food and laughter as we go to Northwood Temple Dinner Theatre. We will be seeing “You’re Only as Old as You Think…” a comic look at what happens when a country doctor turns his practice over to a “too-smart-for-his-own good” young physician. It’s the classic battle of wisdom versus intelligence. We will be attending on Friday, October 14. Cost: $25. Sign up in the church office by or before August 31.
FLEA MARKET MINISTRY NEEDS
The Flea Market Ministry needs someone (male or female) to assist in Sunday School one Sunday per month from 8:10 - 9:00. This person does not have teaching responsibility. If God leads you to consider this, please call Judy Williams at 585-7833.
SYLVIA’S BACK
Wednesday Night Suppers will resume WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 31. We will have a new cook! Sylvia Whitley will be cooking for us again. Syvia works another job and will be doing a large amount of her prep work at night. To accommodate Sylvia’s schedule, we will need to give her numbers for shopping on Monday. Please sign up by or before 2:00 p.m. on MONDAY. Thank you so much for your help in this situation.
ARE YOU BEING CALLED?
Anesha Johnson will be leaving on a Mission Trip to Honduras on November 4, returning on November 12. If you believe God is calling you for this trip, please say YES! Please contact me (631-2486) for further details. Anesha Johnson.
