Experiencing God (12 Weeks- Fall Block)
We will journey together as we explore knowing and doing the will of God. This is a highly recommended discipleship course for Spiritual Growth and development.

Financial Peace University (13 Weeks- Fall Block)
FPU is a tool that supports churches by equipping them with a biblically-based accountability class that will train their congregation to manage their resources.

Youth Choir for 7th - `12th graders begins Sunday, September 12 at 5:15 p.m. in the Sanctuary with “Fun First” Rehearsal. It’s more than just music!

ATTENTION 3RD – 6TH GRADERS

It’s time to start decorating PINE CONE CHRISTMAS TREES. Our first decorating date is Friday, September 3rd at 2:00 p.m. in “TOM’S BARN” (Shirley Sullivan’s house). MEN'S SALT BIBLE STUDY
Men’s Bible Study on Revelations begins Monday, September 13, 2010. We will use the text “Escape the Coming Night” with four study guides by Dr. David Jeremiah. We’ll listen to the CDs from the group of sermons he did for this study each week and then discuss the weekly lesson. We will meet on Monday evenings from 7:00-8:30 p.m. There is a cost of $29.50 per person for materials. Scholarships will be available to those who need help with materials. In order to make arrangements and obtain the materials in a timely fashion, I need to know if you will join us. Please call the Church office at 934-9771, or me direct at 919-634-1742 if you plan to participate. The response so far has been quite good. If I don’t hear from you by August 30, I can’t guarantee that I can get your materials on time or at the price quoted. We’ll make a group order on August 31st. This should be a terrific study. The Intermediate Handbell Ensemble will begin practice Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 6:30 p.m.

WELCOME TO WORSHIP
Welcome to Worship is a four week class offered for our First Graders. This will be held during the 10:55 worship service September 12, 19, 26 and October 3. These classes will help our First Graders to find ways to worship God, learn about baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and give them some helpful tools they can use as they join us in worship. Children will go back to their Sunday School classroom after the Children’s Sermon and stay there until you pick them up after worship. Look for more information in the mail.

SANCTUARY FLOWERS
If you would like to provide flowers in the Sanctuary, we have several openings in September and October You may either call the Church Office at 934-9771 or Ann Stallings at 934-8989.

BACKPACK PROGRAM NEEDS YOU
We are looking for volunteers to help set up the backpack room on Wednesdays, deliver backpacks to South Smithfield and Selma Elementary on Friday mornings from 9:15 – 10:15, and pick-up empty backpacks on Wednesdays from South Smithfield Elementary only. We have approximately 100 backpacks that will be packed with food for children on the weekends. If you could help, please call Tommy at the church office at 934-9771.

FRIENDS OF CHILDREN
Friends of Children Day at the Kennedy Home will be September 25th. We will be leaving from the church at 7:30 a.m. and will return by mid afternoon. We will help in the cottages, have lunch and attend a brief meeting. Everyone is welcome to go lend a hand. If you would like to go help and visit the children, please call Carolyn Tharrington at 934-3749.
