Sunday, September 21st we will have the opportunity
to select/nominate individuals we would like to
serve on our Deacon Board. On Sunday, September
28th we will elect Deacons from those nominated.
Please be in prayer for your selection and that
the individuals elected will serve our church
as God would lead them.

6:15 p.m. for Snack Supper followed by Bible Study

Wood, Parker Wood are responsible for Snack Supper.
Busch
Gardens Trip is Friday, September 26th. The cost
is $60.00. You can still sign up. Please sign
up ASAP…..we need a number. Make sure we
have a permission form for you. We will leave
at 6:00 a.m. (bring breakfast) and return around
midnight.

You At the Pole Breakfast on Wednesday, September
24th at 6:15 A.M. in the Fellowship Hall. Transportation
will be provided to local schools (Smithfield
Middle and SSS).
SIXTH
ANNUAL BECKY KNOTT MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
The Sixth Annual Becky Knott Memorial Golf Tournament
is fast approaching. This year it will be held
Friday, October 24th with tee off at 12:00 noon.
Many individuals and businesses have sponsored
this event each year and we appreciate their support.
If you have been a sponsor in the past and plan
to sponsor again this year, please contact the
church office as soon as possible. If you have
not participated in past years and would like
to support our youth through this event, please
come by the church office and pick up a brochure.
Also, please feel free to pass this information
along to friends or other businesses.

Two Sunday evening music and worship events this
fall you’ll want to note: October 5, 7 p.m.
a Hymn Sing along led by our own Baptist Blend,
and November 2, 7 p.m., the JBA Festival of Praise,
featuring 12 Baptist adult choirs both separately
and en masse.
ROOFING
FOR HABITAT
The Women Roofers from Rutherford County will
be staying in our facility September 18th –
21st while they are roofing a house for Habitat
for Humanity in Goldsboro as part of the State
WMU Women Build Project. They will present a brief
report at the 8:45 a.m. service on September 21,
2008.
WAYS YOU CAN HELP
Landscaping Our New Wheelchair Ramp: This Friday
afternoon (19th) starting at noon and Saturday
morning (20th), starting at 7:30 a.m. Danny Hensley
and Mac Culbreth will be coordinating landscaping
for our new ramp. (on the Johnson Street side
of Ryberg Hall) We need all possible volunteers
equipped with shovels and other landscaping equipment
to get this done. If you don't have equipment,
your strong back and willingness to help will
be fine. If you can't make it Saturday morning
we will be there well into the afternoon, so come
anytime and stay for as long as you can. Additionally,
we plan to install sod the following Saturday
the 27th beginning at 7:30 a.m. Please contact

him know you will help.
The
disaster Relief Team will be going on a Mission
Trip on Friday, October 3 and Saturday, October
4, 2008. They will be going to Red Springs, NC.

Mission
of Joy: Years ago my father received a Christmas
tree made from a pine cone. He was so happy with
his little tree. Why not bring joy at Christmas
by giving a little tree to all shut ins at Christmas.

of Clear Water Clean, clear water is one thing
we take for granted. In India this is an unreachable
dream. Would you like to help someone drink a

Backpack
Program Needs You: We are looking for volunteers
to help deliver backpacks to South Smithfield
and Selma Elementary on Friday mornings from 9:15
– 10:15. We have approximately 102 backpacks
that will be packed with food for children on
the weekends, so a little muscle will be needed.

Friends
of Children Day at the Kennedy Home will be September
20the. We will be leaving from the church at 7:30
a.m. and will return by mid afternoon. We will
help in the cottages, have lunch and attend a
brief meeting. Everyone is welcome to go lend
a hand. If you would like to go help and visit

ATTENTION 2ND – 6TH GRADERS
We need YOU in Bible Buddies and Bible Drill.
Come on Sunday nights and join us as we learn
and prepare for our drills. Bible Drill participants
will be studying 1 Chronicles 16:8 and Jove 37:14

OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUTREACH AT CHRISTMAS
Angel Tree: Again this year we will be helping
with the Angel Tree project. You can pick up an
“angel” by November 23rd and return
your gift to the church office by or before December
6th. We will also host the Angel Tree Party in
the Fellowship Hall on Saturday, December 13 from
10:00 a.m. until noon.
Operation
Christmas Child: Operation Christmas Child is
a project of Samaritan’s Purse where you
can pack a shoe box with small toys, books, crayons,
etc. for a boy or girl. If you would like to participate
in Operation Christmas Child, information is located
in the office. Please return your box to the office
by November 16th.

September 30 (Tuesday) trip to Raleigh to see
Dead Sea Scrolls special exhibit at NC Museum
of Natural Science. Depart church at 9:15 a.m.
for 10:15 tour; followed by lunch at Farmer’s
Market restaurant (on your own) and some time
to browse in the farmer’s market stores
and stalls. Return by mid afternoon. Cost: $17
includes gas and admission ticket. Sign up by
September 17.

11 (Saturday) trip to New Bern to see “free”
garden tour at Tryon Palace, also attend/browse
in “MumFest” street fair in downtown
New Bern. Lunch on your own. Depart 9 a.m. Arrive
back by mid to late afternoon (group’s preference)

at Holiday Inn Express, Pineville, lunch at Salem
Tavern, “Town Visit” admission ticket

at 9:30 a.m., lunch at Salem Tavern 1:15 (choose
when signing up from Moravian Pie or Quiche and
Salad); afternoon walking/touring Old Salem, on
to Charlotte area, supper on our own. Tuesday
