We will enjoy special music by the Praise Ringers Handbells, Instruments, Creative Movement by our Children, and more.

Come and enjoy this time of fellowship and bring a picnic basket full of good food to share as we have lunch on the grounds following the service.

YOUTH NEWS
FBC YOUTH will meet Sunday, October 15th  at 6:15 p.m. for Snack Supper followed by Bible Study.  Joel Robinson, Brandon Allen, Sydney Ball, Travis Cook, Nikki & Kevin Crumley, Shane & Bennett Johnson, Emily Lane, Erin & Blake Schultze, Allison & Olivia Stevens, and Shannon Thompson. are responsible for Snack Supper.

DISCIPLENOW WEEKEND is November 17-19.  Cost: $45.  Sign up and pay no later than Tuesday, October 17.  The theme is “One Heart” Colossians 2:2-3.  Experience the joy that comes with being a member of the body of Christ.

FOURTH ANNUAL
BECKY KNOTT MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
The Fourth Annual Becky Knott Memorial Golf Tournament is fast approaching.  This year it will be held, Friday, November 10th with tee off at 11:00 a.m.  Many individuals and businesses have sponsored this event each year and we appreciate their support.  If you have been a sponsor in the past and plan to sponsor again this year please contact the church office as soon as possible.  If you have not participated in past years and would like to support our youth through this event, please come by the church office and pick up a brochure.  Also, please feel free to pass this information along to friends or other businesses. 

YOUTH FUNDRAISER LUNCHEON
Let us do the cooking for you on Sunday, October 29th as the youth will be hosting a Fundraiser Luncheon.  We will enjoy Chicken, Pasta, Green Vegetable, Bread, Tea and Dessert.  Your cost is a donation to the 2007 Youth Mission Trip.  Sign-up in Sunday School or call the church office. 

CHURCH-WIDE OUTING
HURRICANES GAME
Let’s go to a Hurricanes Hockey Game!!!  Everyone is invited to sign-up to go the RBC Center on November 9th to see the Carolina Hurricanes play the Washington Capitals.  The cost is $12 per person due by October 22, which will cover your ticket and transportation.  Tickets are limited and will be sold on a first come first serve basis.  It will be a great time of fun and fellowship for all.

MISSION OPPORTUNITIES
We will have a Disaster Relief Team leaving on October 28th  for Gulfport, Mississippi.  Please be in prayer for this group as they prepare to travel and help those devastated by Hurricane Katrina.  There is still room for more to join the team.  Contact Joyce Wright at 934-3547 as soon as possible

Four Oaks Baptist Church is organizing a group of men to go to Honduras.  Their mission is to build a house for a lady and her children.  The house she is living in presently is made of sticks and mud.  Please pray and listen for God’s call to go and serve.  If you are interested please contact Linwood Byrd at 202-9300 (mobile) or call the Four Oaks Baptist Church.  The dates are January 17-25, 2007.  There are four slots available.

MUSIC NOTES
JBA Festival of Praise is at our church on Sunday evening November 5 at 7 p.m.  Many Baptist churches from our association will be participating with choirs, praise bands, and more.  Our own Sanctuary Choir and Baptist Blend will sing as well.  Everyone is welcome to attend!

Journey to Bethlehem is coming!   Mark your calendars for Dec. 17 and 18, Sunday and Monday evenings, for “Journey to Bethlehem,” our church’s ten-scene outdoor Christmas drama.  You can volunteer to help by being a scene builder, prop gatherer, actor, tour guide, refreshment maker, and more.  Watch for opportunities to get involved through your Sunday School class or on the church bulletin board.

The NC Baptist Singers are coming!  Monday, January 29, 2007 this large group of Baptist Church musicians will play and sing a worship concert at our church starting 6:45 p.m.  Plan to
attend!

EYE GLASSES AND HEARING AIDS
Gather up all those old glasses and/or hearing aids and bring them to the church office…..we will be colleting them for the Lions Club.

WEBSITE UPDATES:

  1. Did you know that you can click on an event on the Calendar and email yourself a reminder for that event?  You can also send an invitation to a friend via email.
  2. The menu for the Wednesday night supper is available on the calendar by Sunday.  Simply point to the supper on the calendar and the menu will pop-up or click on the event.
  3. The Children’s Program page is up and many of the programs are described there.  It is a great place to send people that you have invited to church if they have children and want to know more about what is offered.
  4. The Mental Health Sunday School schedule has been updated under the Missions tab.
  5. The Boy Scouts have a calendar.  Click on the calendar tab, click on the pull down menu for Interest Groups on the right side of the calendar (under the month) and select Boy Scouts.
  6. Major events through June have been added to the calendar.  If you have an event coming up and it is not on the calendar, call Janice at the church office or email Judy Williams at judithw222@msn.com and it will be added.

PRIMETIMERS DAY TRIPS SCHEDULED
Join us for a day trip to see “Monet in Normandy.”  This special exhibit of impressionist painter Claude Monet at the NC Museum of Art on Monday, November 6.  We will leave the church at 8:30 a.m. and return by early to mid afternoon.  After a morning visit to the museum we will eat lunch at the Clarion Hotel (top of tower, excellent view of Raleigh) and after lunch visit briefly the “new Fayetteville Street”.  Cost:  $25 (includes ticket to exhibit, lunch buffet, drink, gratuity and travel).  Sign up and pay in church office by October 23.

Join us for an evening Holiday outing to see “The Nutcracker” at the Carolina Ballet, in Raleigh, on Thursday, December 21 at 7:30 p.m.  We will leave the church at 6:00 p.m.  The cost is $25 (outer circle tickets, seats face stage at back of auditorium, lower balcony.)  We must have 20 persons to get this group rate.  Call the church office to sign up no later than October 23rd.

CLOTHES CLOSET UPDATE
Thank you for your generous donation of clothing that has helped many people have clothes to wear.  Due to limited storage space, we only need winters clothes until February.  God bless you!  Faye Hardee and Jo Ann Wiggs
