The Sixth Annual Becky Knott Memorial Golf Tournament is Friday, October 24th with tee off at 12:00 noon. All names need to be in the office by Monday, October 20. ALSO, we will enjoy a pig pickin’ at the conclusion of the tournament, approximately 4:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. The cost is a donation to the Youth Mission Trip. HOUSEHOLD CLOSET SCHEDULE AND NEEDS
The Household Closet will open on Tuesdays from 10:00 – 12:00 beginning November 4th. We need HELP full time and part time. No heavy lifting required. Please contact Dianne Shirley if you can help.

ATTENTION COLLEGE STUDENTS AND PARENTS
It’s that time of the year again…..College Care Package Time! If you are currently enrolled in college for undergraduate or masters education, please make sure we have your current mailing address at school. Care packages will be mailed next month, and we want to make sure you get yours. Contact the church office with this vital information, as we have other mailings you may want to receive as well.

DEACON ORDINATION
Join us Sunday, October 26 for ordination of Stephen Jones at the 10:55 service. Be in prayer for our new deacon as he prepares to serves our congregation.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUTREACH AT CHRISTMAS
Angel Tree: Again this year we will be helping with the Angel Tree project. You can pick up an “angel” by November 23rd and return your gift to the church office by or before December 6th. We will also host the Angel Tree Party in the Fellowship Hall on Saturday, December 13 from 10:00 a.m. until noon.

Operation Christmas Child: Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse where you can pack a shoe box with small toys, books, crayons, etc. for a boy or girl. If you would like to participate in Operation Christmas Child, information is located in the office. Please return your box to the office by November 16th.

WAYS YOU CAN HELP
Mission of Joy: Years ago my father received a Christmas tree made from a pine cone. He was so happy with his little tree. Join us for another Pine Cone Christmas tree decorating party Saturday, November 1, 9:00 – 11:00 in the Fellowship Hall. Bring your glue gun and glue sticks.

Mission of Clear Water: Clean, clear water is one thing we take for granted. In India this is an unreachable dream. Would you like to help someone drink a cup of clean, clear water? Please contact Anesha Johnson at 934-1601 for more information.

Peanut Butter for Backpacks: We are collecting 18 oz. jars of peanut butter for the Backpack Program. If you can help, please drop your donations at the church office.

PRIMETIMERS TRIPS UPDATE
November 18 (Tuesday) “Star of Bethlehem” at Morehead Planetarium, Chapel Hill. Cost: $7 includes show ticket and gas. Sign up by October 15.

December 8-9 (Mon-Tues.) Old Salem/Shoebox Packing trip. Cost: $78. Call the church office to sign up.

BAPTIST WOMENT’S DAY OF PRAYER
The Baptist Women’s Day of Prayer will be November 3, 2008 in the Fellowship Hall at 7:00 p.m. Let’s join the 2329 nation Baptist Women’s organizations around the world to pray for each other, the world and world leaders. All women are invited to attend. An offering will be collected for the BWA.

Johnston Baptist Association Annual Meeting will be October 27th and 28th. If you would like to be a messenger please call the church office. A bus from the church will go each night.

Baptist State Convention will be held this year November 10 -12 in Greensboro, NC. If you would like to be a messenger, please contact the church office.

CHURCH WIDE TRUNK OR TREAT!
Make plans with your family to have a blast at our FBC Trunk or Treat Sunday, October 26 from 4:00 – 5:00. The event will be in the parking lot across from Cecil’s Service Center. Each vehicle is responsible for its own treats, and tricks. Vehicle decorating will take place from 3:30 until 4:00. Vehicles will be allowed to enter the parking lot from 3:30-3:45 only. Once a vehicle is inside the parking lot the vehicle must stay parked and engines off until all children have left the area. Make this a family affair and come have fun together.

MUSIC NOTES
Sunday evening music and worship event this fall you’ll want to note: November 2, 7 p.m., the JBA Festival of Praise, featuring 12 Baptist adult choirs both separately and en masse.

ON MISSION
Please be in prayer for Anesha Johnson and Leah Thorndyke as they travel this Friday October 17 to Honduras to serve on a Medical Mission Trip. Please pray for safe travel and that they may touch the lives of many and be a testimony of God’s love. They will return Saturday, October 25.
