Dr. Jerry Wallace, President of Campbell University, will be speaking to our high school students and any parents who wish to attend on the above mentioned topic from 10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 16th in the Sanctuary.  Admission Directors of colleges and universities tell us that there are so many variables involved when it comes to selecting students for higher education.  If you wish to be better prepared for the application process, we encourage you to attend!

YOUTH INFORMATION

FBC Youth Group will meet Sunday, October 9th at 6:15 p.m. for Snack Supper followed by Bible Study at 7:00 p.m are Elizabeth Wooters, Harrison Allen, Parker & Tyler Watson, Taylor & Zach Leposa, Samantha & Steven Taylor and Jessica Hubbard responsible for Snack Supper.

Fall Youth Retreat  "I AM SECOND"
Location: Fort Caswell, October 21 to 23, 2011
Cost: $130 (Sign up is past due…..Call Tommy)
Details: The North Carolina Baptist Assembly at Fort Caswell and “I am Second” invite you to join us for our Fall Youth Retreat.  Worship Music by Todd Agnew and our speaker will be Chris Plekenpol.  Special Concert on Saturday night by Todd Agnew.  We will leave FBC @ 3:45 p.m. on October 21st and return to FBC @ 3 p.m. October 23rd.  Need $ for two meals (fast food going down and lunch on the way back).

Lock Out – Friday, Nov. 4.  Meet at the FBC Smithfield Fellowship Hall at 9 p.m.  Cost is $35 includes midnight bowling, Adventure Landing (pizza, unlimited putt-putt, lazer tag, go-carts and most video games)  This is an “up all night” event.  Sign up with payment by Oct. 30.

SPAGHETTI DINNER
Please join First Baptist Church Youth and the Johnston County Juniorettes as they sponsor a Spaghetti Dinner Benefit for Cory Harrison in the Fellowship Hall Saturday, October 8.  Cost: $7.00 per plate.  Time: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  Please come by and support these groups as they reach out to help the Harrison family.

SINGERS NEEDED
Some members of the choir are seeking to form a singing group to visit and sing in a Nursing Home Ministry.  If you have interest in sharing your singing talents, please contact Kerrie Jordan, 934-9771, or Doug Strickland, 965-5450.  We will have some practices.

Tuesday, November 29, Trip to Rocky Hock Theatre to see the Christmas Show.  We will leave at 10:00 a.m. and return around 6:00 p.m.  The cost is $35, which includes your meal, transportation and admission.  Sign up by October 15.

Medications for
Honduras Medical Mission Trip
Medications are needed for the November Mission Trip to Honduras.  If you would like to help, the following is a list of our greatest needs:  A & D Ointment, antacid pills (Tums), infant liquid Tylenol or Ibuprophin, antifungal cream, anti itch cream.  You may drop off your donations at the church office.  Your help is greatly appreciated.  Anesha Johnson

ADVENT BOOKS
We will be compiling an Advent Book for the upcoming Christmas season.  We need two more people willing to share a special memory or what Christmas means to you.  If you would like to participate, please contact Judy Dixon at 989-7174. CAN YOU HELP?
We will be collecting 6 – 9oz tubes of toothpaste for the inmates.  If you can help, please bring your donations to the church.  There is a collection box in the Fellowship Hall.

DISASTER RELIEF TRIP
We will have a Disaster Relief Trip Thursday, October 13th to Bayboro, NC, where we will be doing clean-up and tear out.  We will leave at 6:00 A.M. and return hopefully by late evening.  If you will be able to go or if you have questions, please contact Henry and Joyce Wright at 934-3547.

Butter Braid Sale
FBC Relay Team will be selling those delicious Butter Braid pastries from Sunday, October 9th until Sunday, October 30th.  If you bought one last time, we don’t have to tell you how good they are.  If you didn’t, you definitely need to buy some this time!  The pastries are $12.00 each, and come in 8 flavors.  We will have order forms on the Sunday School class clipboards, and we will also have order sheets in the Fellowship Hall each of these Sundays.  Please put your check, made payable to First Baptist Church, with the clipboard order sheet.  (You can note “Relay for Life BB” in the lower corner of your check.)  We cannot place your order without your check.  All orders will be delivered to FBC on Thursday, November 10th, and will be ready for pick up between 5:00-6:30 p.m. on that date.  They’ll be great during the holidays and make great Christmas presents too!  As always , FBC Relay Team thanks you for your support.
