OPPORTUNITIES
FOR OUTREACH
AT CHRISTMAS
Operation Christmas Child: Operation Christmas
Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse
where you can pack a shoe box with small toys,
books, crayons, etc. for a boy or girl. If you
would like to participate in Operation Christmas
Child, information is located in the office. Please
return your box to the office by November 16th.
Angel
Tree: Again this year we will be helping with
the Angel Tree project. You can pick up an “angel”
by November 30th and return your gift to the church
office by or before December 7th. We will also
host the Angel Tree Party in the Fellowship Hall
on Saturday, December 13 from 10:00 a.m. until
noon.
WAYS
YOU CAN HELP
Mission of Joy: Years ago my father received a
Christmas tree made from a pine cone. He was so
happy with his little tree. Join us for another
Pine Cone Christmas tree decorating party Saturday,
November 15, 9:00 – 11:00 upstairs in Room
252. Bring your glue gun and glue sticks.
Peanut
Butter for Backpacks: We are collecting 18 oz.
jars of peanut butter for the Backpack Program.
If you can help, please drop your donations at
the church office.
RELAY
TIME AGAIN
I would like to have a meeting on November 16
at 4:00 in the Fellowship Hall for anyone interested
in working with our Relay team. This is just a
time for brain storming to come up with ideas
to make our team even better than before. Please
come with your ideas. If you have questions call
Carolyn Jones at 924-7742 or 631-5617
FOREIGN
MISSION: CLEAN CLEAR WATER
Clean drinking water saves lives in India. Something
as simple as clean water can mean the difference
between life or death for babies, children and
adults in Bihar, India. There are millions of
people in small villages who are considered “outcasts.”
They have no other water to drink but water infected
with water born diseases, and contaminated with
rotting leaves. A well offers clean water and
the opportunity for pastors to share God’s
love. Jesus said, “I was hungry and you
gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you
gave me something to drink.” One well costs
approximately $700.00. Sponsor a village for approximately
$2,800.00 (includes a well, Bibles, bicycle for
pastor, hymn books and health clinics.) Pray about
it and think about it when you drink clean, clear
water.
IT’S
THANKSGIVING DINNER TIME
Thanksgiving is around the corner and we need
help with cranberry sauce, green beans, rolls
and desserts. If you can donate any of these items,
please contact Anesha Johnson at 934-1601.
FLEA
MARKET MINISTRY
Every Sunday morning at 8:00, children of all
ages come to a small room at Brightleaf Flea Market
ready to hear stories about Jesus, pray and to
sing God’s praises. A small group of volunteers
come at 7:45 to set up chairs, prepare nametags,
play piano in the open area, and to start a Christian
video for the children who arrive early. At 8:45
the volunteers leave to attend services at their
church. WE NEED HELP! We need people that are
willing to be in the room to assist with nametags,
Bibles etc. The children speak English so language
is not a problem. If you can come one Sunday a
month or one Sunday now and then, please call
Judy Williams at 934-0261. God is at work at the
Flea Market and you will receive a great blessing
by joining Him there.
SYMPATHY
We express our Christian sympathy to Joan Plowman
and family in the recent homegoing of her mother,
Doris Britt.
COULD
YOU HELP
My name is Sarah Campbell and I am working on
my Senior Project. I will be collecting food for
the Backpack Ministry here at First Baptist. The
following are items needed to fill the backpacks:
cans of spaghetti, ravioli, beanie weanies, vienna
sausage, non refrigerated fruit cups or pudding,
juice boxes, breakfast bars or pop tarts. My goal
is to collect enough food to fill the backpacks
one week. If you can donate any of these items
please bring them to the church office where I
will have a collection box in the storage room.
