Music & Worship at FBC Smithfield

Worship is our response to God, for both who God is and what God has done.  As the church, we respond corporately when we gather together for song, prayer, scripture, and deed.  We also respond individually by the things we say and do in our everyday lives.  All our worship, both individually and corporately, is directed to Him. Music is a vital part of worship here at First Baptist.  We use all musical and artistic talents as expressions God gives us.  We use these talents here in our services as well as out in our community!  No matter what gift God has given you, there is a place for you here to serve Him!

Choir

Sanctuary Choir

Our Sanctuary Choir is one of the most visible musical tools at our church!  They are the group that helps lead the congregation in worship from the choir loft, and use their talents to bring us music to call us to worship, bless us as we worship, and send us forth with a blessing.  The Choir performs various styles and moods of music, all with the purpose of glorifying God and edifying the believer! The Sanctuary Choir also presents two major performances a year – one at Easter and one at Christmas – as well as helps lead our Patriotic Vespers & Celebration of Freedom in June!
No audition is required to join this group of singers – only a spirit of worship!
If you are interested in joining the choir, please email our Minister of Music, Braxton Kubasko, or come to a rehearsal Wednesday nights at 7:30pm!

Children’s Choir

Our Children’s Choir is a group of our young children that help our church by leading in worship!  They perform at services throughout the year as well as at major performances. All children are invited to join on Wednesday nights at 6:15 and lift up their voices to the Lord!

If you are interested in joining the Children’s Choir, please email our Minister of Music, Braxton Kubasko, or come to our Wednesday Night Activities and choir practice!

Preschool Choir

Like our Children’s Choir, our Preschool Choir is a group of our youngest worship leaders!  Sometimes alongside the children’s choir and sometimes by themselves, they perform at services throughout the year as well as at major performances. All children are invited to join on Wednesday nights at 6:15 and lift up their voices to the Lord!

If you are interested in joining the Children’s Choir, please email our Minister of Music, Braxton Kubasko, or come to our Wednesday Night Activities and choir practice!

Handbells

PraiseRingers

The PraiseRingers are our church’s advanced group of handbell players.  This group assists in worship services throughout the year, and also regularly assists in our major performances and community events as well as playing at the State Handbell Covention, PraisRing, on a yearly basis.  If you are a gifted handbell player and/or music reader and would like to join the PraiseRingers, please email our Minister of Music, Braxton Kubasko.  Rehearsals are at 6pm on Sunday evenings.

First Baptist Bells

If you are relatively new to the world of handbells, just want to give handbells a try, or want to play handbells in a more relaxed atmosphere, then First Baptist Bells is a good option for you!  This group plays at two services a year, and enjoys time together on Wednesday nights at 6:45 rehearsing and learning the art of handbell playing!  If you are interested in joining, please email our Minister of Music, Braxton Kubasko.

sInstrumental Music & Art

Instrumental Music

Whether you are a new player to an instrument or one who has played for many years, we have opportunities for you to use your gifts for the glory of God!  We have solo instrumental players at services throughout the year as well as at our major performances.  If you are interested in using your talents in worship, please email our Minister of Music, Braxton Kubasko.

Art

We are a congregation that values beautiful art and decoration.  No matter your talent level as an artist, we have a place for you to help with painted, stitched, drawn, and many other types of art throughout the year for performances and other events. If you are interested in contributing your talents, please email our Minister of Music, Braxton Kubasko.
