DANA ZENOBI soprano | JONATHAN LEVIN pianist
Free Admission
Join soprano Dana Zenobi and pianist Jonathan Levin for this free community eventcelebrating the rediscovered songs of American composer Margaret Bonds (1913–1972)—a pioneering artist, activist, and educator whose manuscripts are only now being published and performed thanks to recent scholarship. Many of the works on this program have only recently come to light, and some are being heard publicly for the first time.
Zenobi, a champion of art song by women and Associate Professor of Voice at Butler University, and Levin, a pianist known for his American music projects and performances nationwide, have premiered several of Bonds’ works at the Music by Women Festival and are now preparing to record this repertoire for an upcoming album and video series. Together, they bring artistry and advocacy to the stage, giving voice to Bonds’ powerful and long-overlooked legacy.
